ÉPOCA – Você já foi atacado na Alemanha e causou tumulto em Paris e shopping centers dos Estados Unidos. Como tem lidado com todo esse inesperado sucesso e a histeria das fãs?
Justin Bieber – Não é tão ruim quanto parece. Às vezes preciso da companhia de segurança, especialmente para comprar um tênis ou uma calça, mas de resto não tenho do que reclamar. Minhas fãs são muito cool. Às vezes nem acredito que isso tudo aconteceu comigo. Que garoto pode reclamar de ter um monte de menina correndo atrás dele o tempo todo?

ÉPOCA – Seu descobrimento foi viável basicamente pela internet, com vídeos no YouTube e sua conta no Twitter. O quão importante são essas ferramentas para você?
Bieber – Elas criam um canal de comunicação muito direto com as fãs. Acho que existe uma conexão maior, uma liberdade maior, principalmente de minha parte, de postar uma mensagem engraçada no Funnyordie.com, como fiz no dia 1º. de abril. Fãs acham que estou falando diretamente com elas, o que é verdade. Posto no Twitter incessantemente. Virou uma mania.

ÉPOCA – Os críticos dizem que sua voz pode mudar e que o futuro de sua carreira é incerto porque é muito jovem. O que acha disso?
Bieber – Minha voz tem mudado muito, tem ficado mais grave e estremece muito, o que é totalmente compreensível. Hoje já não consigo mais cantar a musica "Baby" como eu fazia seis meses atrás. Preciso cantá-la num tom mais baixo. Tem gente que diz que eu não vou conseguir cantar mais depois da puberdade. Mas isso não faz muito sentido para mim e nem me preocupa. Muitas pessoas fazem esse rito de passagem numa boa. Veja só o exemplo do Usher.

ÉPOCA – Que tipo de cuidados você tem com sua voz?
Bieber – Tenho a melhor professora de canto dos Estados Unidos. Também evito consumir produtos derivados de leite. De resto, é tudo normal, inclusive hambúrguer.

ÉPOCA – Qual é sua comida preferida?
Bieber – Adoro spaguetthi à bolonhesa.

ÉPOCA – Quais são seus hobbies, o que costuma fazer quando não está em tour ou promovendo seus CDs?
Bieber – Gosto de andar de skate, de sair com amigos, assistir a uma comédia com eles no cinema. Jogar videogame. Também gosto de jogar basquete e hoquéi. E tirar sonecas.

ÉPOCA – A imprensa tenta compará-lo a outros astros teens. Você é chamado de o novo Jonas Brothers, de o novo Zac Efron. Isso te incomoda?
Bieber – Acho que é cada um na sua. Não me incomoda ser comparado com eles, mas também não faz nenhum sentido, pois somos bem diferentes em estilo.

ÉPOCA – Desse grupo do tween pop como Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, de quem você mais gosta ou se identifica?
Bieber – Eu acho que Taylor Swift tem uma voz incrível. Gosto muito do estilo dela.

ÉPOCA – Você cresceu sem ter muito dinheiro. Como acha que isso o afetou?
Bieber – Não fui tão pobre de passar necessidade. Só não tínhamos muito dinheiro, mas minha mãe sempre foi capaz de prover o básico para nossa família. Acredito que isso me trouxe uma outra mentalidade. Cresci mais pé no chão, sem mimos ou dramas. Meu grande objetivo sempre foi ir à luta, vencer e poder comprar uma casa para minha mãe, o que já fiz.

ÉPOCA – Qual foi a coisa mais extravagante que você comprou com seu primeiro salário mais polpudo?
Bieber – Um netbook muito cool. Recentemente, tirei minha carta e o Usher me ajudou a comprar um Range Rover.

ÉPOCA – Você gosta de gadgets?
Bieber – Adoro. Quero muito ter um iPad, mas estou tendo paciência e esperando pelo modelo 3G sair agora em maio para comprá-lo. Tenho receio de que o modelo somente em wi-fi fique complicado de ser usado quando eu sair em tour.

ÉPOCA – Sua tour começa em junho. Tem planos de incluir o Brasil nela?
Bieber – Eu nunca fui ao Brasil, mas com certeza um dia me apresentarei por lá.

ÉPOCA – E suas fãs brasileiras, o que elas te escrevem?
Bieber – Eu acho as brasileiras quentíssimas.

ÉPOCA – O que o faz dizer isso? Fotos de Gisele Bundchen e Adriana Lima?
Bieber – Não, não estou me referindo a modelos, mas sim as mulheres brasileiras em geral. Elas são quentíssimas, tem um jeito diferente de caminhar.

ÉPOCA – Você tem sido fotografado com muitas mulheres famosas, dando beijinho em Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Tina Fey, Oprah Winfrey. Qual é celebridade que mais o encantou até o momento?
Bieber – Fácil, fácil, a Beyoncé. Ela tem uma voz incrível e é muito sensual. Na verdade, ela é quentíssima (risos). Gostaria de cantar com ela.

ÉPOCA – Você foi à Casa Branca recentemente. Fale como foi essa experiência.
Bieber – Foi incrível conhecer o presidente Barack Obama. Ele não me conhecia e pronunciou meu nome errado. Mas o perdoei na boa (risos).

ÉPOCA – E o que você conversou com a filhas dele, Malia e Sasha?
Bieber – Coisa de adolescente. Nada demais.

ÉPOCA – Qual foi a maior surpresa que a fama te trouxe?
Bieber – O que mais me fascinou foi poder ter a oportunidade de encontrar gente famosa que admiro, como a Beyoncé, a Taylor Swift e o presidente Obama.

ÉPOCA – Quem falta você vai encontar?
Bieber – O Eddie Murphy.

ÉPOCA – Muitos astros mirins não conseguem lidar com a pressão do sucesso, e encontram problemas de ajustes mais tarde. Você já pensou em como vai lidar com isso?
Bieber – Eu acho que mantenho o pé no chão e sou muito honesto comigo mesmo. Minha mãe também sempre me deu bons conselhos e sempre foi extremamente cuidadosa sobre minha educação e em relação às pessoas com quem ando.
